Volkstheater has always been one of the largest theatres in the German-speaking region. The play “Der Fleck auf der Ehr” opened the prestigious history in 1889. Today, Volkstheater Wien is one of the most respected theatres in Europe and an important part of Austria’s cultural landscape.

To keep the communication environment of Volkstheater up to date, the decision was made to switch to a modern VoIP solution. Digitalization does not stop at Volkstheater either. Therefore, it was essential for the customer to choose a future-proof and cost-effective solution. During a personal meeting to assess the requirements with the Technical Director, UNICOPE communication specialists extensively discussed the advantages of migrating to the VoIP solution.
For Volkstheater, digitalization, seamless transition, and cost reduction were the most important requirements for a new, modern telephony solution. VoIP technology offers precisely these advantages and thus fully meets the requirements of Volkstheater.
After conducting an assessment, a detailed conversion plan was developed in collaboration with Volkstheater. However, for the constantly growing online ticket sales business with the ticket hotline, a seamless transition had to be ensured. UNICOPE technicians initially configured the new ticket hotline system with an IVR (Interactive Voice Response) menu and extensively tested the system in parallel operation. The new desk phones with colour display or touchscreen were delivered and connected within a single day. After successfully passing the stress tests of the new telephone system, it received approval from UNICOPE technicians and the responsible personnel at Volkstheater. A porting date was set, allowing the existing landline number to be seamlessly transferred. That was the transition to VoIP telephony for Volkstheater in Vienna. It’s that simple!
